Sports and venture capital magnate Ted Leonsis and his wife, Lynn, have sold their sprawling Nantucket mansion for $8.5 million to an unknown buyer.
Leonsis spent 14 years as an executive at AOL. Leonsis is now CEO of Washington, D.C.-based Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the NHL’s Washington Capitals, the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, as well as the 20,000-seat Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C.
The beautiful three-story, five-bedroom home is located on Rabbit Run Road in Nantucket’s Shawkemo area. The 4,768-square-foot property was completed by builder John Lampe in 2012. Leonsis bought it later that year for $6.7 million.
The home comes complete with commanding water views, landscaped grounds, a pool, bar and private decks, making it the perfect place for entertaining. The marble baths, gym room and sauna are perfectly suited for relaxing. The house also has “custom millwork details throughout including coffered ceilings” and “built in decorative storage/display pieces.” according to the listing. (See a slideshow of the property, above)
